October 2020
The first stage of planting around the Cycle Track near Lake Inverell started today under rainy conditions. Council had asked Inverell East Rotary to be the organising body for the planting and the Club’s Community Service Director, John Scoble, has taken the bit between his teeth to make the start. He has been working with Council to plan todays work.
Council workers, Rotarians, Apexians and Danthonia boys joined forces to do the initial plant today. Council had excavated the area to be planted between the footpath and carpark at the lower end of the cycle track and filled it with soil. It was a matter of digging holes, planting and watering. The work was easy digging and with rain showers around all helpers were quick to get on with the job.

A working bee cleaned up the weeds that had grown in the beds planted back in November. Replacements were planted for those plants that did not survive the original planting. Click through 4 shots.

Stage 3
Another successful working bee with East Rotary, Danthonia and Council members involved. Replanting of some plants in one section and the planting of new sections was accomplished by the hard working group.
Thanks to Community Service Director John and his team of volunteers who planted 450 shrubs and trees last Saturday- they were John, Paul, Ric, Andy, Geoff, Jim Roussos and of course the queen of scones Julie. The Danthonia boys led by Ted and Bud were very hungry. Ian (Spag) Spalding had us all well organised as usual.

March 2022 – The Crepe Myrtle came out in flour during March and some new planting took part in May near the track itself.
