Inverell East Rotary Changeover for 2021 – the clubs 50th Changeover

On Tuesday 22 June, , Inverell East Rotary President (2020 – 21) Paul Alliston passed on the baton to Larry Whitbread for the 2021 – 22 rotary year.

More than 60 Rotarians, partners and guests attended the function at the RSM Club. Thanks to Chef Ryan Kent and the friendly, efficient club staff, the dinner and changeover ceremony was a successful and enjoyable occasion.

Guests included Charter members Bevan Sommerlad and Ian McFarlane and partners Shirley and Pattie.  Past District 9650 Governor Greg Moran, Assistant District Governor Bruce George with partners Sue and Kate were also in attendance. Councillor Stewart Berryman, a past Inverell East Rotary member represented the Inverell Shire Council. Inverell Rotary Club President Josephine Kelly and incoming president Helen Tickle were also in attendance. 

 

The night was a celebration of the 50th changeover and Charter president Bevan Sommerlad was given the opportunity to speak on the club’s beginnings and his involvement as President. Charter member, Ian McFarlane also spoke of his memories of those early days. This was followed by two power points with photos of events during the 50 years.

During the night, Past President Ros Scoble was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition for her service in a number of areas in our town and the wider region. Ros was recognised for her contribution to Inverell East Rotary, Toastmasters, Probus and Education.

After receiving the Badge of Office from Paul Alliston, new President, Larry Whitbread, introduced the new Board of Directors and spoke briefly of the Club’s plans for the coming 21/22 rotary year. Inverell East Rotary will continue to serve the local community during challenging times ahead.
