Community Service Report 2019 – 20

This year continues to see the Rotary Club of Inverell East heavily involved in projects to assist the Community and Schools of the area.

The development of the May Street Park is gradually winding down after its official opening in June. This project was started in 2011 and continues to develop with the support of Inverell Shire Council through Anthony Alliston. Consistent watering of new shrubs, trees and grass and regular mowing by members have the place looking very attractive even though we had been experiencing severe drought up until Christmas. A group of lads doing community service has taken over the task of mowing. We a very grateful for the help.

Major events, Inverell’s Got Talent and the River Run, have involved many members over long periods of time. Events such as Inverell’s Got Talent and The River Run provide an opportunity for members of the public to perform and develop their skills. They also help raise funds that are used to support numerous people and local groups.

The Copeton Swim didn’t run again because of the drought and the low dam level.

The Duck Race, after a year of recess because of financial stresses within the town, was on again this year and the weather conditions allowed the ducks to produce impressive performances. Members spent many hours selling Duck tickets in this, our major fund raiser.

The Chip Van continues to involve many members and supports community functions throughout the year.
