RYAG Rotary Youth in Agriculture
Hi, my name is Lachlan, and I would like to thank Rotary for the opportunity to attend the RYAG camp. We learnt so much about the sheep and wool industry like stock handling, shearing and wool classing, how to treat illness and disease in stock, how to freight the stock safely and how the meat is processed, identifying good pasture and how to further promote the sheep and wool industry.
I enjoyed learning about new farm technology like the usage of drones on the farm and the new electronic tagging system which effects my families’ farming operation.
I come from a Sheep and cropping property in Delungra I am involved with the care of our sheep and moving them to new paddocks. Also, in the shed or penning the sheep up at shearing time. I think I will be able to use some of the things I have learnt at RYAG when I’m working with my family on our properties and maybe even teach them a thing or two!
I have plans to continue to work in agriculture, hopefully one day running my own property and having a sheep stud.
Thank you again for the opportunity to go to RYAG.
